Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and Choice Things

Each week, I talk to Joe about the pieces I’ve selected for Joden Girl.  My choices are always about reactions – maybe you’ll love it, maybe you won’t.  Usually Joe and I agree – but sometimes we don’t.  This week is one of those weeks.  As I handed my pick across the desk to Joe, the words were already coming out of my mouth…  “I know you’re going to hate these…”

I placed these earrings in his hand and finished my thought…  “I don’t know why, but something about them really appeals to me!”  Of course, I was right.  Joe doesn’t hate them, but he definitely doesn’t think they’re worth blogging about!

Made from 9 karat yellow gold, these simple wire-wrapped style dangles are so fun!  I love the artistic charm of them.  A thin band of gold envelopes the center of a pair of uncut white topaz.  The stones aren’t perfectly matched (which only adds to their allure) but light bounces off the large flat faceting -enchanting, really.  The final detail is a small round opal, bezel set on the front of each earring.  Again, the opals are not matched, one is noticeably larger then the other.  I love the imperfectness of them!  These are a steal at just $350.

Perhaps Marilyn Monroe said it best –  “Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

Joe’s Special Box – Volume Ten

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Take a long drink of these Pink Ladies….  much like the classic cocktail, this dazzling duo display frothy white diamond details further accented with a delicious blush colored center.  It’s enough to make your head spin.

Let’s draw this analogy out a bit further…  the ring on the left is definitely the “Sandy Olsson” of the two.  Soft curving feminine lines and lacy details speak for themselves in this demure beauty.  Crafted from platinum during the Art Deco period featuring a glorious pink topaz center – you can’t resist it.  Every Danny needs his Sandy

And then there’s Betty Rizzo – or Rizzo for short.  You can’t stop staring, can you?

Also made from platinum, this head-turner is all strong lines and hard edges…  but at heart, you’ll see the softer side; a gorgeous fancy cut Pink TourmalineEat your heart out!

Pieces like these are the reason that “Joe’s Special Box” exists.  It’s a haven for rare beauties.  Like they say…  “Act cool, look cool, be cool.  Til death do us part, think pink!”   And as always…

Common Ground

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and Shared Things

There are lots of jewelry bloggers out there….  and a handful of really great ones.  One of my favorites is Becky Stone from Diamonds In The Library.  Her blog is creative and informative; here’s what she has to say about it…

A lady with a love for literature and shiny things discusses books and bling.”

Last fall, Becky came to Joden and visited with us for a day.  She met with Joe – he gave her the grand tour, wooing her with everything from dazzling diamonds to the rarest of the rare, our Giuliano Collection.  After she returned home, Becky penned a blog or two about Joden, and dubbed us “Pennsylvania’s Jewelry Treasure Trove.”

As it turns out, not only are Becky and I both jewelry bloggers, we both love great literature and have similar taste in our bling!  Here are some photos she took during her visit (which also happen to be some of my favorite pieces, too.)

Here’s the really cool part, last week Joden Girl was featured on Diamonds In The Library!  In her third post about Joden, Becky introduces me to her readers and encourages them to check out all the treasures and treats that our website and this blog has to offer, including these memorable gems…

Click here to read all about it!  Then drop me a line at carrie@joden.com – let me know what you’d like to see next.  As always…
