Baubles, Bling, and Diamond Rings

In 2019, more and more couples are choosing a vintage engagement ring.  For those seeking quality craftsmanship, great value and distinctive design – a one-of-a-kind ring from our estate department is the perfect choice.  Our vast inventory offers everything from Georgian to modern, but there’s no question that the pieces from the Art Deco period bring the most oohs and aahs from our customers!

The 1920’s and 1930’s produced a plethora of jewelry designs influenced by bold geometric patterns with a decidedly more modern feel than previous years.  The Art Deco era represented luxury and glamour, executed with exquisite expertise.  At Joden, our Deco case is filled to overflowing with platinum and white gold diamond rings ideal for engagements!  Here are three of our current favs…

Each of these beauties features an Old European Cut center accented by single-cut diamond trim.  Other elements like delicate filigree wire-work and  milgrain beaded edges bring the styles to life.

First, we have an 18 karat white gold dream featuring a .60 carat bezel-set diamond center.  A vining leaf pattern creates the structure of each side while a singular diamond accents brings a hint of sparkle.  It glistens on the hand for just $1,650.00.

Next is a vision in platinum.  This simple but elegant ring contains a .45 carat diamond center.  Straight edges and delicate beading add a bit of flair to this classically beautiful piece.  It’s priced right at $1,750.00.

Last but certainly not least is this platinum pyramid-style ring.  Four rows of diamonds build upward in a square fashion, crowned by a dazzling .65 carat Old European Cut diamond.  The twenty-four single cut diamonds that decorate each level of the pyramid add an additional .35 carat…  that brings this stunner to 1.00 carat of total diamond weight!  All for just $2,250.00.

I love sharing rings like these!  Sophisticated style and Old World technique combined with an affordable price that won’t break the bank.  Each of these and so much more is available every day in the estate department at Joden.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 79

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Occasionally a modern jewelry manufacturer makes such fine pieces with the highest levels of craftsmanship, they almost have us believing that the jewel is a true antique.  In the 1940’s, one such maker was a firm called Baumstein and Feder.  You may not be familiar with their work…  It wasn’t until this sneaky snake showed up that I first heard their name.

The sheer heft of this ring speaks for the quality of it.  Weighing over 17 grams of 14 karat yellow gold, this snake wraps the finger with the tail looping around the head.  The entire surface is textured with a scale-like crosshatch pattern, giving an authentic feel to this reptilian ring.  It’s incredibly lifelike – the bulky muscles seeming to bulge beneath the golden skin.  A matched pair of single cut diamond eyes seem to wink with the hint of a sinister smile.  A crisp hallmark (BaumF) leaves no doubt as to who crafted this piece.  It’s a Mid Century marvel, priced right at $2,350.00.  Snake rings are quite popular – and I’m certain this one is no exception.  With such exquisite detail, this piece won’t last long.

Bring Back the Brooch

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, Pins and Things

Over twenty-eight thousand posts can’t be wrong.  There’s a movement happening on Instagram… #bringbackthebrooch.  There is no other piece of jewelry as versatile.  There are countless ways to sport your favorite pins.  I am dedicating this week’s blog to some of our favorites!

Luxurious satin, plush velvet, or even a playful pattern – take a length of ribbon and tie a fabulous oversize bow around your wrist.  Adorn it with something sparkly, like this stunning Victorian butterfly.  This silver on gold beauty glistens with over a carat of rose cut diamonds.  Each wing centers on an old cut brilliant blue sapphire.  Add in a cabochon opal body and a pair of ruby eyes and this look will have heads snapping!  Take this winged creature home for $3,750.00.

Wrists aren’t the only place to tie a bow…  ankles are fair game and oh-so-sexy.  Create your own ankle strap with a bit of black grosgrain ribbon.  This diamond daisy brooch adds a splash of vintage glam.

You can call it late Georgian or early Victorian…  I call it gorgeous.  You know I’m a sucker for flower jewels (this one is available for $3,500.00) and this little bauble is no exception.  Every petal is covered with a glorious patina – the perfect contrast to the bright white diamonds.  Over two carats that sparkle and shine with every step – imagine making a fashion statement like this on the dance floor!

If bows aren’t your thing – check out our twist on an old favorite.  This woven choker is a must for every jewelry wardrobe.  Wear it alone or jazz it up with a brooch or two.  Dig into those jewelry boxes, find your brooches!  Pin them to your collar, lapels and ties.  Add them to your cuffs, straps, and waistbands.  Join the movement and bring back the brooch!

Send pictures of your favorite brooches and how you wear them to carrie@joden.com.  Inspire me!
