What’s New – Volume 8

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and The Latest Things

As 2021 is wrapping up, so many of us are looking forward to a fresh start in 2022.  New Years resolutions will be made with the best of intentions.  Perhaps this time I will truly embrace the “new year, new me” concept.  There’s something so enticing about new beginnings!

This lovely brooch represents all of those things.  Made from 14 karat yellow gold, this swallow pin is absolutely charming.  Every bit of him, from the tip of his beak to the end of his characteristic split tail is covered with dainty seed pearls.  With an array of creamy tones, each tiny pearl adds texture and dimension.  A singular ruby dots his little eye.

The swallow, a migratory bird, has long been associated with good luck.  Because they are always on the move, they also encourage us to let go of the past, putting all the negatives behind us and move forward into a new era of living in harmony with yourself and others.

Viewed from behind, the smooth shiny gold surface reveals two hallmarks.  One is the 14 karat gold mark, while the other is a manufacture’s mark.  It is the mark of the Newark, NJ firm called Riker Brothers.  An American maker, this family-owned and operated firm was one of the few to showcase the skills of American jewelry manufacturers.

A recent addition to our antique and estate department, this sweet swallow is available for just $575.00.  The small size makes it so wearable and versatile… the ideal piece to usher in 2022.  Wear this beauty when the ball drops on December 31st and kick the year off in style.

The Color of Christmas

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling with a Little Red and Green

When the red and green decorations start popping up everywhere, it signals the start of the holiday season.  According to the color wheel, these two shades are complementary.  They’re directly opposite from each other, creating a bold visual interest.

To celebrate the Christmas season in style, we are showcasing a pair of classic three-stone rings that feature the rich tones of ruby and emerald.

Entirely crafted from 18 karat yellow gold, this ring shines brilliantly.  A deep red emerald cut ruby is nestled between a matched pair of emerald cut diamonds.  The color of the stone is a true red without any hint of brown or pink.  It weighs 1.25 carats.  Completing the three-stone appeal of this timeless design are two diamonds that have a combined weight of .50 carat.  Ideally sized for any hand, this ring sits perfectly on the finger of your choosing from index to pinky.  It’s available in our showroom now for just $2,900.00.

Also offering the enduring allure of the three-stone style, this beauty focuses on an elongated emerald cut emerald.  With bright verdant color, this gem weighs 1.55 carats and is secured with a split-prong design.  With eight claws instead of four, it softens the angular lines of the emerald cut.  Seated on each side of the center are a pair of straight baguette diamonds set vertically to accentuate the shape of the emerald.  These diamonds have a combined weight of .43 carat.  This 18 karat yellow gold vision is available for $4,150.00.

Although red and green have been associated with Christmas for hundreds of years, many don’t know the significance of these beautiful hues.  Red symbolizes the blood of Christ, shed during the crucifixion while green represents the eternal life that is offered to all through Jesus.  These vibrant colors remind us of the true reason for the season.

What’s New – Volume 7

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and The Latest Things

Jewelry elicits strong emotional responses – visceral and usually immediate.  Many (perhaps even most) of our customers “ooh” and “aah” over diamonds, colored stones and the more traditional pieces.  There are, however, a few things that are met with a much more intense reaction.  A couple examples include mourning jewelry, natural scarabs and… hearts.

Yes, hearts.  You either love them or you hate them.  There’s no middle of the road.  For me, after more than twenty years in the jewelry industry, it’s a “no”.  They’re overdone.  Too cliché.  Cheesy.  I have also come to accept that many people love them.  This blog is dedicated to those people.

Recently acquired, this pendant is part of our estate collection.  And although it’s not a motif that I would choose for myself, I can certainly appreciate the fine quality of this piece.  Made entirely of a rich, buttery 18 karat yellow gold, this heart offers real style.  It’s got great curves and a really good feel.  It’s heavy… with a true sense of distinction.

The edge is thick and wide… even the back is finished to perfection with a series of curlicue cut-outs.  This solid frame is set with thirty-six large tapered baguette diamonds.  These step-cut stones have a combined weight of over 4.50 carats!  The average color grade of the diamonds is H-I and the average clarity grade is VS.   This is no ordinary diamond heart necklace that you can pick up at the mall but rather a unique piece of fine jewelry.

While I would not buy this for myself, there’s just something about it.  I can’t seem to stop looking at it.  Someone is going to absolutely love it!  Available for the steal of a deal price of just $5,250.00 – call us to make it yours today.  1-800-747-7552.
