“The surprising marriage of jeweler skills and watchmaker expertise is what made

Carl F. Bucherer’s creations unique from the beginning.”

These words, direct from the heritage section of the Carl F. Bucherer watch site perfectly describe the creations that have kept this Swiss firm in business for over 134 years.  Founded in 1888, the name Bucherer has became synonymous with time honored technique, expert heritage and a pioneering spirit.

In the 1920’s, Carl’s wife Mina joined the business as a buyer of fine colored gemstones…  a passion that she shared with her husband.  Together the couple raised two sons, both born and bred into the family enterprise.  One son was trained as a watch maker and the other as a goldsmith – the ideal pairing to complement both sides of the business.

This sleek six-stranded bracelet is a recent addition to our estate department.  The style is classic.  In fact, we have two similar pieces in stock right now.  Similar – but not quite the same.  Crafted in the 1950’s, this burnished bar link bracelet glides through your fingers like a fine silk scarf.  The feel is beyond luxurious.  Made entirely of 18-karat yellow gold, this 7.5 inch bracelet is well worth it’s weight in gold.  Unlike the other two, this particular one has a couple of unique features including this gem-set hidden clasp.

Divided right down the middle, this lovely closure showcases three different gemstones…  diamond, sapphire and ruby.  One single cut diamond, held in place by four prongs, marks the center and weighs approximately .02 carat.  Surrounding it is a halo of eight round blue sapphires that have a combined weight of approximately .50 carat.  A series of eight five-petaled florets encircle the sapphires, each one set with a bright red ruby.  These rubies have a total weight of .50 carat.

Clearly etched onto the back side of the box style clasp is the iconic hallmark for Carl Bucherer, “CB 750”.  Each of the six strands measure 2.5 mm across, bringing the total width of the bracelet to 15 mm.  However, as you can see, the strands are loose and flow one over the other giving the piece sensuous movement.  The brushed finish applied to the front of each individual length adds another element of sophistication to this signed bracelet.

A popular modern designer, Marco Bicego has revived this exemplary style, dubbing the collection “Cairo“.  The line is opulent, offering a brand new five-stranded bracelet for $5,300.00.  In contrast, our estate bracelet, a signed Carl Bucherer original, is available now for just $3,000.00.  Stop by the store to see it for yourself.

Baubles, Bling, and The Latest Things

Last week, I shared a pearl and gemstone bracelet that I found myself inexplicably drawn to –

Click the photo for all the details about last week’s find.  As for this week’s discovery – it’s simple elegance.  Admittedly, I am NOT a lover of pearls, but this week, I have yet another pearl piece to share.  I’ve shared my usual indifference with pearls before, so I’m not sure what’s happening!  Perhaps it’s because pearl is the birthstone for this month.

A simple wire of 18-karat yellow gold almost encapsulates the wrist – but not quite.  This delicate flexible cuff-style bracelet is the epitome of simple perfection.  One side of this modern beauty is decorated with a single flower.  A pair of leaves cradle a creamy 10.5 mm pearl.  Shimmering with an ethereal glow, the pearl brings a bit of romance to this otherwise spartan piece.  Nestled beneath the pearl amid the leaves is one tiny round brilliant diamond.  For such a little stone, this sparkler glimmers in the light.

Showcased here with a bit of lace and embroidery, you can truly appreciate the classic beauty of this dainty cuff bracelet.  It goes on with ease, adding subtle charm to every wardrobe.  This latest edition to our estate department is soon to be the latest edition to our site.  Check it out in the store now for just $800.00.

His and Hers – Volume Six

Baubles, Bling, and Complementary Rings

Crafted over four decades apart, this unique duo of rings offer a harmonious blend of cool white gold and stark black onyx.  These rings have been a popular go-to choice for nearly 100 years.  The classic color combination of black and white is a style that appeals to a wide audience of jewelry lovers everywhere.

Many of these simplistic beauties were made near the end of the Art Deco era in the 1930’s.  This ladies ring is one such example.  With an artfully sculpted hourglass shape, the 10-karat white gold ring has an elegant allure.  The onyx center stone presents with a softly arched profile that takes up almost the entire top of the piece.  A narrow framework holds it in place with prongs located at 12, 3, 6 and 9:00 o’clock.

One tiny single-cut diamond is nestled within a diamond-shaped setting on top of the onyx stone.  Graceful lines pair with polished sophistication in this 1930’s gem, priced at just $275.00.

It’s handsome counterpart was crafted in the 1970’s.  Designed for a larger hand, this ring is made from 18-karat white gold.  Polished to a pristine shine, the wide shank meets the center section at a perpendicular angle.  The middle of this ring is set with a curved black onyx.  It is the same shape as the onyx in the ladies ring, although this one is set in an east/west orientation.

Flanking the onyx are two lines of diamonds.  Each one is set with four single-cut diamonds – these stones have a combined weight of .25 carat.  Adding a hint of sparkle to this otherwise stark ring, the diamonds are a much needed bright spot in this ring – it’s available now for $950.00.

These two ring aren’t wedding bands – and they don’t match.  However, they sing together in perfect harmony.  If you and your sweetheart are looking for an outward symbol of your connection, this pair of rings is ideal!  They’re available on our website – click on over and check them out.
