Getting Personal with the Personnel – Volume 4

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Insider Information

At work, she’s the Thelma to my Louise, the jelly to my peanut butter… she’s my partner in crime.  Her name is Dana and she’s been with the company for over seven years.  Beginning as a part-time sales associate at a small local chain jewelry store and later managing a major brand store, we were lucky to steal her away.  Beginning in 1996, Dana has over twenty-six years of jewelry experience; she brings an engaging personality and a wealth of knowledge to our team.

For the last four years, she and I have joined forces to maximize the internet presence of Joden Jewelers.  After nearly a decade of struggling to build an online brand, Dana and I inherited a bit of a challenge.  Dana is the face behind the camera.  Self-taught, she is gifted with photography.  Her photos are the very thing that attract people to our website and social media.  Together, Dana and I have tripled our Facebook and Instagram followers.  She single-handedly manages joden.com; Dana took it from a basic catalog to a true online store.  With her pictures and my words – we were destined for success.

Shortly after Dana started at Joden, she discovered her love of Victorian mourning jewelry.  Coming from a small family and being an only child, these nostalgic pieces connected with her sentimental side and passion to preserve the past.  Her personal collection boasts several unique treasures… including the two rings and small oval pin shown here.  The cushion-shaped brooch is her favorite piece at Joden.  A Victorian hair locket from the late 1800’s, this charmer features a frame made from fine wirework, eight natural pearls and eight pink gems.  The star of the show are the golden locks of hair intricately braided together and meticulously safe-guarded beneath the glass.  This rare find is available for just $2,750.00.

On the flip side, this large Retro ring is near the bottom of Dana’s list.  Made from 14-karat rose gold with a platinum top, it presents quite a formidable figure.  A deep golden emerald-cut citrine sits in the center – it weighs over 35.00 carats.  Trimmed with fourteen square rubies and six round diamonds, this statement ring is a bold choice.  Although it is extremely well-made and superior in quality, this 1940’s knuckle duster is simply too large and overdone for Dana’s style.

Enjoy the magic of Dana’s photos every day by liking us on Facebook and following us on Instagram.  Then stop by the store and introduce yourself to her… you’re going to love her as much as we do!

What’s New – Volume 40

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

In the mid to late 1800’s, long before modern sewage and sanitation systems were in place, Victorians were often subjected to unsavory odors.  In instances when it was inconvenient or even impossible to visit an outhouse, the ever popular chamber pot was used.  These were emptied daily, often into small streams or rivers…  resulting in foul-smelling water.  If you happened to be exposed to some of these offensive odors and you were more than a little wealthy, this would be an occasion to employ your perfume pendant.

Or perhaps you find yourself out and about and spot an attractive paramour; you MUST freshen your fragrance.  You simply reach for your perfume pendant, pull out the tiny stopper and dab a bit of scented oil to your wrist and neck.

These treasures were worn by men and women either on a chain around your neck or as part of a chatelain (a decorative belt hook worn at the waist to keep essential tools within arms reach).  Your personal chatelaine contained a combination of useful accessories such as scissors, a thimble, a needle case, a pin cushion, a small knife, a tape measure, a coin purse, a memo pad and pencil and of course, a perfume bottle.

The front of this particular pendant features an intricately stylized woven basket of flowers.  Made from a lovely combination of 14-karat yellow and rose gold, there are three cheerful blossoms – two in full bloom and a third that is still opening.  The back showcases a plain banner meant for personalization, it is situated diagonally across artfully engraved patterns.  Scrolling wires form the structure that hold the bottle while a tiny chain attaches the stopper.  Two additional chains attach to an oval link at the top to allow it to be worn as a necklace.  Soon to be on our website, this charming piece is available now for just $560.00.

Vintage Vines

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Winding Things

The vibe of this vine is delicate daintiness at its finest.  Twisting and turning, all 17 inches wrap around the base of the neck with an ethereal feel.  The frail appearance is a bit deceiving – made from 14-karat white gold, this beauty isn’t fragile, it’s quite wearable.

Each of the twenty-seven leaf links are hinged, allowing the entire piece to move with the body.  A tiny beaded edge known as milgrain adorns the outline of every leaf as well as the vine itself.  A singular diamond winks from the center of the fronds.  All of the gentle curves connect to a small bezel-set round diamond…  twenty-six of them in all.

The allure of nature abounds in this standout piece.  Fifty-three diamonds are set within the sparkling florals for a combined weight of 1.50 carats.  Scintillatingly sinuous, this sweet design can be worn alone but also stacks well with other necklaces to create a simply irresistible style.  Don’t let this botanical beauty wither on the vine, make it yours today for just $2,800.00.
