Signature Series – Volume 10

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Quality Things

In an era of instant gratification and outsourcing to cut costs, one company is still making high quality jewelry right here in the United States.  Located in Newark, New Jersey, the motto of Jabel has always been “quality without compromise”.  Founded upon the desire to create premium die-struck jewelry, Jabel has been a recognized name in fine jewelry since 1916.

Die-struck jewelry has roots in forging – it’s a method that ultimately results in dense, durable pieces that last a lifetime.  This painstakingly precise process is the very thing that has kept Jabel at the forefront of heirloom jewelry for more than a century.

During the Mid Century Modern era, Jabel also understood that not every customer could afford to indulge in luxury jewelry and sought to rectify the dilemma.  Enter the add-a-link bracelet.  This creative and forward-thinking design was a resounding success.  We have two of these beauties in our estate department.

Made from 18-karat white gold, this filigree floral link bracelet contains eight individual links.  Each one is set with twelve round diamonds, a final half-link set with just five diamonds finishes the bracelet.  With a total weight of 2.18 carats, the bracelet is ideally fitted to a smaller wrist and is available for $6,500.00.

This vintage piece still showcases the building process ; it consists of five 18-karat white gold links and the adapter that allows it to be worn even before the bracelet is complete.  Bringing together two unique floral shapes, the links contain one diamond each.  Combined, these five round diamonds have a weight of approximately .50 carat.  Priced at $3,250.00, this bit of wrist candy is available now.

Both made in the United States, these two Jabel beauties highlight the best our country has to offer.  Their motto says it all… “Today, Jabel is the same company it was in 1916; quality without compromise was, is, and always will be the Jabel way.”

Pick of the Week – Volume 59

Joden Girl

Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

Art Deco was arguably the most innovative, opulent and stylistically advanced period of the last two hundred years.  The look was elaborate; geometric designs overflowing with diamonds accented with tiny pops of color.  It was architectural and elegant, capturing hearts for generations.  Art Deco began to emerge in 1915 and continued into the mid-late 1930’s.

The Art Deco style has influenced every period since.  In fact, it is the most copied design aesthetic of the modern era.  Entire companies have been founded exclusively on Art Deco-inspired jewelry and countless others offer individual lines infused with 1930’s panache.  Perhaps the most successful modern maker of Art Deco-inspired jewelry is Beverley K.

Founded in 1999, Beverley K creates graceful and feminine jewelry that captures a perfect harmonious balance gems and precious metals.  At Joden, we often have a piece or two of Beverley K pizzazz sprinkled throughout the store.

Today we are featuring one of our favorites.  This 18-karat white gold beauty is striking from every angle.  Flattering the finger, the overall shape is elongated and narrow – it’s a miniature sculpture.  The ends are capped with a pair of bullet-cut vivid blue sapphires.  Eight additional French-cut sapphires span the center of the ring, in total, the sapphires have a combined weight of 1.92 carats.

Twenty-six diamonds accent the ornate geometric design.  These diamonds offer .42 carat of sparkle.  Overall, the design is sleek, sophisticated and totally Art Deco.  This ring is still active in the Beverley K line, it has been featured on our website for $4,700.00.  It’s a classic example of everything being right about the piece…  which makes me wonder why we still have it.

It must be the price.  Let’s fix that!  Now a Pick of the Week – this Beverley K stunner is available for just $3,750.00.  If you’ve had your eye on it – now is the time to make it yours.

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

We are absolutely thrilled to have taken on a new vocation recently…  we’re bee keepers!  Over the years, we have been caretakers of lots of bee pins.  From diamond encrusted to sapphire studded, these charming bees are always a favorite.  There is one particular bee that has eluded us…  the Herbert Rosenthal bee.

Herbert Rosenthal is the celebrated Mid Century Modern designer who elevated bee pins to stardom.  His realistic insects are the epitome of chic.  We have had two Rosenthal butterflies – both lovely in their own rite, but we wanted a bee!  At long last, the wait is over – this little stinger just buzzed into our showroom at 144 South Broad Street.  Complete with an artfully engraved body, sculpted wings and ruby eyes – he is simple perfection.

The warm, rich tones of 18-karat yellow gold bring our tiny friend to life.  Add him to your collar, your shoulder, or your cuff for a touch of whimsy.  Equally suited to a masculine or feminine look – this bee is the ultimate accessory.

Peep the signature Herbert Rosenthal mark on the backside of the wing!  It’s the most important detail of all.  If you too are buzzing with excitement, hop on over to our site and add classic style to your wardrobe for just $1200.
