Pick of the Week – Volume 63

Joden Girl

Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

Mid Century Modern jewelry is having a moment.  As the most recent era, it encompasses the years from 1945-1970 with a bit of crossover before and after.  Often characteristics of previous periods carry into the next, like this unique ring.  Although it was made in the 1950’s, there is no denying the Art Deco influence.  Made entirely of platinum, this unique ring sits low and lovely on the finger.

A dazzling 1.05 carat round brilliant diamond winks from the center.  This near colorless beauty has a clarity grade of I1.  It is accented by twenty single-cut diamonds that have a combined weight of .30 carat.  These diamonds are pavé-set in an elongated triangular shape, ten on each side.  The Art Deco style is evident in a surprising element… six straight baguette cut diamonds are set in two horizontal rows on the top and bottom edges.  These geometrically pleasing stones have a total weight of .30 carat.  Both the round and baguette cut diamonds have a color and clarity grade that are comparable to that of the center stone.

This ring is an old friend and has been with us for quite awhile.  The design is very pretty; however, it might leave you wondering… is it an engagement ring?  Or is it a cocktail ring?  An argument could be made for both cases!   Measuring 9.6mm across the top, this wide ring could easily work double-duty as a combination engagement ring and wedding band.  Conversely, the ring is sleek and stylish with plenty of pizzazz.  It would be the perfect accessory for dinner out.  Either way, it’s a decision best left to whoever purchases it.

Appraised by the International Gemological Institute of America, this ring has an insurance replacement value of $8.950.00.  We’ve had it featured on our website for $6,400.00.  We’d like to find the perfect home for this Mid Century Modern beauty, so we’ve selected it as a Pick of the Week.  It is now available for just $5,250.00.  That’s a savings of $1150.00!  If you’ve had your eye on this unique ring, now’s your chance.  Make it yours today.

Hot or Not – Volume 16

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Curious Things

Dubbed the gemstone of the Caribbean, tanzanite is a stunningly brilliant blue gem that has charmed jewelry lovers around the world.  If you’ve ever gone on a cruise, I’m sure you recall the tables laden with tray after tray of glorious tanzanite rings.  Hundreds of them, each one more dazzling than the last.  The salespeople behind the counter are fluent in the language of tanzanite… they certainly know their product.  They’re also well educated in the fine art of salesmanship.  Perhaps you succumbed to the allure of the enchanting Caribbean jewels or perhaps you left those treasures behind and have regretted it ever since.  I’ve heard rave reviews and I’ve heard horror stories about cruise ship purchases – and I have no words of wisdom.  What I do have is a ring that reminds me of those beauties.

Made entirely of 14-karat yellow gold, this bypass style ring is a real head-turner.  The shank of the ring splits in the center, leaving two crisp and clean ends.  The shanks twists, allowing the two ends of the shank to align vertically.  A 2.0mm channel has been cut into the shank.  Six custom cut pieces of black opal fill the channel, adding a kaleidoscope of green and blue hues to this modern ring.  When this unique ring is tipped, a subtle detail appears.  The outside edges of the shank feature a secondary channel…  this one is filled with small round brilliant diamonds.  There are twenty sparklers that have a combined weight of .40 carat.

Sitting tall within a 6-prong head is a medium blue tanzanite.  This beautiful stone weighs approximately 2.50 carats.  The hue of this gem is not the deepest blue nor is it the palest lavender…  it’s a true cerulean.  Perfectly complementing the blue in the opal, this tanzanite sits at a jaunty angle.  When worn, this rings rises 3/8 of an inch off the finger and reaches nearly knuckle to knuckle.  A bold choice, this ring is the latest addition to our estate department.  With so much going for it, I have to ask… do you think this ring is hot?  Or not?  If you love it and you’ve been pining for a Caribbean gem of your very own, here’s your chance!  This beauty is available for just $1,850.00.  Call us to claim it today.

Signature Series – Volume 21

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Quality Things

“Quality without compromise.”

This is the statement that Jabel Ring Manufacturing Company was founded on in 1916.  For more than one hundred years. this American company has been synonymous with and recognized for the finest diamond jewelry.  In 2007, David Connelly took the reigns of Jabel in hand and ensured that this Newark, New Jersey company would continue on for another hundred years.  His promise was that “Jabel is the exact same company it was in 1916; quality without compromise was, is, and always will be the Jabel way.”

Jabel pieces often pop up in the estate jewelry world.  Due to their superior craftsmanship, the pieces are almost always in near perfect condition.  I love seeing the “Jabel” hallmark on a great piece of vintage jewelry, like this lovely dome ring.

The rich, warm hue of 18-karat yellow gold instantly distinguishes this ring from any other.  A narrow 1.5mm shank cathedrals up to a stunning sphere.  Three-dimensional, this light and airy dome sits beautifully atop the finger.  Made from a series of interwoven wire, the overall appearance is actually quite delicate.  Each intersecting wire features a beaded texture.  When viewed from the top, it offers a decidedly floral vibe.

Sitting centerstage is one round diamond that weighs approximately .25 carat.  An additional twelve round brilliant diamonds are sprinkled throughout the basket-woven dome.  These diamonds have a total weight of .45 carat.  Near colorless, all of these diamonds have an average clarity grade of VS.  Made in the 1960’s, this ring is very Mid Century Modern.  This ring is currently a finger size 6.5, and can be easily sized up or down.  Priced at just $1,500., this Jabel jewel is the latest addition to our estate collection.  Call us to make it yours.
