Joden Girl
Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things
April Fools! Have you had those words shouted at you today? The crazy and fun tradition of playing practical jokes on family and friends has been around since the 16th century. Some think it derives from the Vernal Equinox (the first day of Spring) where Mother Nature fools all of us with unpredictable weather. We can certainly understand that, right?
The personage known as “the fool” has been around even longer, though. It dates back to the Middle Ages and the Tudor Period. Talented individuals often performed at festivals and estates several times a year. There were singers and musicians, tumblers and jugglers, even story-tellers and comedians. The more abilities you had, the more popular you would be.
Our colorful jester is not quite so old. He was crafted in Italy by the “Uno A Erre” company, probably during the 1970’s. His bright multicolored enamel suit is just as charming as his clever hat and pointed shoes. He has struck a pose, with a cheeky demeanor. The back side of this delightful character reveals three hallmarks, the “Uno A Erre” stamp, 18KT, and Italy. Just like his ancient relatives, he is sure to brings smiles to the faces of all who meet him. Available now for just $675.
