All Tied Up

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Knotty Things

A recurring theme since the 1600’s through the present day, the bow has been a beloved symbol of jewelers for centuries.  Often employed to communicate a message that couldn’t be spoken aloud, this elegant emblem was most often spotted pinned near the heart…  conveying the ever so romantic message that the wearer was in love.

Time and again, the ribbon ornaments made in the Edwardian era were realistic and free-flowing with asymmetrical trailing tails.  This gem, crafted on the cusp of the Art Deco period is a departure from that style; it’s reminiscent of the bows made for the French Royal Court in the 17th century.  Prim and proper with perfectly even halves, this platinum topped 14-karat white gold bow brooch is lovely.

Criss-crossed patterns of lacy filigree exude femininity.  Already a symbol of love, this bow has a secondary message woven among the intricate design…  tiny forget-me-not flowers bloom on each loop and tail.  Much like tying a string around your finger can remind you to do something, the miniature blossoms on this bow brooch are meant to keep a special someone constantly on your mind.

The beauty is further enhanced by bejeweled edges.  There are thirteen Old Mine Cut diamonds that offer .50 carat of scintillating sparkle.  It shimmers and shines from every angle and is a true enhancement to any outfit.

Priced at $1,000.00 – this charmer will be on our website soon.  If this bow has you tied up in knots, but just can’t envision yourself wearing a brooch – don’t worry!  With two highly skilled bench jewelers in our on-premises shop, this brooch can become the necklace of your dreams.  A few small modifications and the addition of a chain will take this piece to the next level.  These changes can be done easily and won’t break the bank.   Give us a call at 800.747.7552 or drop an email to carrie@joden.com with any questions.

Stick Pin Obsession

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Binge-Worthy Things

Thanks to sites like Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, we are now able to watch complete seasons of our favorite shows (sometimes even the entire series) in a single sitting.  Binge watching…  it’s a guilty pleasure.  Some things are just TOO good, we simply cannot stop ourselves from over-indulging!

At Joden, we have a stick pin obsession! Lately, we have definitely been catering to our cravings.  Our inventory is overflowing with hundreds of these little beauties – delicate pearl wreaths, enameled flowers, horseshoes, clever animals and SO much more.  Although we occasionally dress-up a jacket or lapel with a stick pin, more often than not we are converting them into charming pendants.

This is one of our latest and most beloved creations.  Made from 14 karat yellow gold, this Art Nouveau gem will add subtle shine to any neckline.  A rich purple amethyst and three seed pearls accent beautifully carved laurel leaf details.

It slides easily on a 16 inch cable chain, complete with a small lobster claw clasp.  It’s available on our site for just $425.

Equally enchanting is this small love knot pendant.  Four softly rounded loops entwine one into the next.  A singular bright diamond winks from the center.

An intimate symbol of love and unity, this pendant promises to delight any lucky recipient.

It’s available on our website for just $275.oo.  Not only do stick pin conversions make perfect pendants, but they also make absolutely adorable additions to charm bracelets.  Start slow with just one, or binge on a bracelet full!  The choice is all yours and the possibilities are endless.

Pick of the Week – Volume 27

Joden Girl

Baubles and Bling with Unbelievable Pricing

It’s Conversion Week at Joden Jewelers!  We are celebrating the fine art of breathing new life into a beautiful but under-utilized piece of jewelry.  There’s no question that lifestyles and clothing trends have undergone significant change in the past 200 years.  Jewelry is often just as much about function as it is fashion.  Brooches, which were very popular in the Victorian era, were frequently used to fasten articles of clothing and hold multiple layers together.  But now, in today’s world, fabrics are light and airy and styles are held together with modern fasteners which have rendered brooches almost obsolete.  For the past few years, we have been converting pins and brooches into necklaces with great success.

Another abandoned article of jewelry is the cuff link.  Once a must for the well-dressed businessman, these decorative gems are rarely worn anymore.  Because cuff links come in pairs, it’s only logical to convert them into earrings!

These platinum and 14 karat yellow gold conversion earrings were made from a lovely pair of Edwardian cuff links.  Shown in profile, you can see how a thin layer of platinum covers the yellow gold base.  Ornate botanical engraving is highlighted in the center of each disk.  Surrounding that is a black enameled halo featuring geometric patterns.

A tiny golden link has been lasered onto the top of the disk allowing an ear wire to slide through.  Because they aren’t soldered solid, the earrings have great movement, creating another element of visual interest.  You’re sure to dazzle in your Zoom meetings with these one-of-a-kind beauties.

Previously available on our site for $1,100 – we have selected them as our Pick of the Week.  Now, just in time for the holidays, these Edwardian conversions have been price reduced to just $820.00!  Tuck them into your stocking today!
