“Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other is gold.”
Working retail is a unique experience. We are privileged to play a small part in some of the most momentous milestones in life. So many occasions are celebrated with jewelry. During the process of selecting the perfect piece, we bond with our clients. Relationships are formed; friendships are made. We have rejoiced over marriages, anniversaries, promotions, babies and birthdays. And we have held hands and shared tears over broken engagements, divorces and the loss of a loved one.
Sometimes, customers just brighten your day. They bring a smile to your face and can even renew your faith in humanity with a tiny act of kindness. Our customers spoil us with heartfelt thank you notes of appreciation, homemade treats, and by telling everyone they know about this cool jewelry store they love. At Christmastime, my friend (who started out as a customer) brought me a gift – the cutest pair of personalized tea towels. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to showcase them… they are the ideal background for this daisy duo.
If you’re a regular reader, you know that daisies are my absolute favorite flower. My wedding band is a custom-made chain of diamond-trimmed daisies in platinum and gold. So, it will come as no surprise that I am completely enchanted by this pin and matching earrings. 14 karat gold, in both rose and yellow shades combine with platinum to create these bright and cheerful jewels. The brooch is bold, measuring over two inches from the tip of the petal to the end of the stem while the earrings are much smaller. They’re about the size (and color) of a new penny. Each of the eight petals are ribbed, giving a more realistic feel to these polished posies.
Nestled into the heart of each flower is a platinum pavé center. A series of single cut diamonds add sparkle and shine. There are forty diamonds in all for a combined total of approximately 1.00 carat.
These beauties radiate happiness, just like my friend. Made in the 1940’s in the heart of the Retro period, they’re sold as a matched suite for just $2,250.00. Every time you pin this brooch to your collar or clip the earrings onto your lobe, you’ll smile. And each time I reach for one of my towels, I will smile and think of my friend.
