What’s New – Volume 39

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things

It’s no secret that I love daisies…  they are my very favorite flower.  From the bold yellow center to the spray of bright white petals that fan out from it.  Silly as it sounds, daisies are indeed the friendliest flower.  Not only are they great on their own, they also pair well with other flowers.

Our latest find is simply too sweet to pass up.  Made from 18-karat gold, this brooch takes the form of  miniature bouquet of flowers.  Presenting a charming trio of one daisy, one pansy and a bachelor’s button  – the variegated shades of purple, yellow and white complement each other beautifully.

Made from 18-karat green gold, the stems of each blossom are intertwined.  Cleverly textured to look authentic and real, they are held together with a double loop of 18-karat rose gold ribbon.  The true beauty of the piece is captured in the multicolored enamel that brings each flower to life.  From the tiny pink line that runs down the center of each daisy petal to the blending of violet and golden hues on the pansy – this pin is Art Nouveau perfection.

A tiny Old Mine Cut diamond marks the center of each flower – much like the cherry on top of a sundae.  Moderately priced at $1,950.00, this brooch is the ideal way to have a touch of summer in your life every day of the year.

Flowers and Friends

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Happy Things

“Make new friends, but keep the old.  One is silver and the other is gold.”

Working retail is a unique experience.  We are privileged to play a small part in some of the most momentous milestones in life.  So many occasions are celebrated with jewelry.  During the process of selecting the perfect piece, we bond with our clients.  Relationships are formed; friendships are made.  We have rejoiced over marriages, anniversaries, promotions, babies and birthdays.  And we have held hands and shared tears over broken engagements, divorces and the loss of a loved one.

Sometimes, customers just brighten your day.  They bring a smile to your face and can even renew your faith in humanity with a tiny act of kindness.  Our customers spoil us with heartfelt thank you notes of appreciation, homemade treats, and by telling everyone they know about this cool jewelry store they love.  At Christmastime, my friend (who started out as a customer) brought me a gift – the cutest pair of personalized tea towels.  I couldn’t resist the opportunity to showcase them…  they are the ideal background for this daisy duo.

If you’re a regular reader, you know that daisies are my absolute favorite flower.  My wedding band is a custom-made chain of diamond-trimmed daisies in platinum and gold.  So, it will come as no surprise that I am completely enchanted by this pin and matching earrings.  14 karat gold, in both rose and yellow shades combine with platinum to create these bright and cheerful jewels.  The brooch is bold, measuring over two inches from the tip of the petal to the end of the stem while the earrings are much smaller.  They’re about the size (and color) of a new penny.  Each of the eight petals are ribbed, giving a more realistic feel to these polished posies.

Nestled into the heart of each flower is a platinum pavé center.  A series of single cut diamonds add sparkle and shine.  There are forty diamonds in all for a combined total of approximately 1.00 carat.

These beauties radiate happiness, just like my friend.  Made in the 1940’s in the heart of the Retro period, they’re sold as a matched suite for just $2,250.00.  Every time you pin this brooch to your collar or clip the earrings onto your lobe, you’ll smile.  And each time I reach for one of my towels, I will smile and think of my friend.

Bring Back the Brooch

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, Pins and Things

Over twenty-eight thousand posts can’t be wrong.  There’s a movement happening on Instagram… #bringbackthebrooch.  There is no other piece of jewelry as versatile.  There are countless ways to sport your favorite pins.  I am dedicating this week’s blog to some of our favorites!

Luxurious satin, plush velvet, or even a playful pattern – take a length of ribbon and tie a fabulous oversize bow around your wrist.  Adorn it with something sparkly, like this stunning Victorian butterfly.  This silver on gold beauty glistens with over a carat of rose cut diamonds.  Each wing centers on an old cut brilliant blue sapphire.  Add in a cabochon opal body and a pair of ruby eyes and this look will have heads snapping!  Take this winged creature home for $3,750.00.

Wrists aren’t the only place to tie a bow…  ankles are fair game and oh-so-sexy.  Create your own ankle strap with a bit of black grosgrain ribbon.  This diamond daisy brooch adds a splash of vintage glam.

You can call it late Georgian or early Victorian…  I call it gorgeous.  You know I’m a sucker for flower jewels (this one is available for $3,500.00) and this little bauble is no exception.  Every petal is covered with a glorious patina – the perfect contrast to the bright white diamonds.  Over two carats that sparkle and shine with every step – imagine making a fashion statement like this on the dance floor!

If bows aren’t your thing – check out our twist on an old favorite.  This woven choker is a must for every jewelry wardrobe.  Wear it alone or jazz it up with a brooch or two.  Dig into those jewelry boxes, find your brooches!  Pin them to your collar, lapels and ties.  Add them to your cuffs, straps, and waistbands.  Join the movement and bring back the brooch!

Send pictures of your favorite brooches and how you wear them to carrie@joden.com.  Inspire me!
