Hot or Not – Volume 17

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Curious Things

We’re back with another edition of “Hot or Not” – I love this unique adaptation of our regular blog.  It’s always interesting to see all the different opinions on a particularly unusual piece of jewelry.  The ring I chose this time STILL has me on the fence.  Based on my current likes, this ring should be a definite “no”… but there’s just something about it.  I keep going back to it.

Made from 18-karat white gold, this band measures almost half an inch in width!  On my hand, it makes a bold statement.  Not just wide, but also thick, the ring has some unique azures (cut-outs on the inside of a ring used for cleaning); there are tiny star, crescent moon, and heart-shaped openings.  These small apertures continue three-quarters of the way around the inside, stopping only to leave a space for three hallmarks… one is not legible.  The remaining two indicate the fineness of the gold (18-karat) and the designer – Valente.  A fine Italian maker, they opened their doors in 1953 and quickly gained popularity.

The outside of the band is just as unexpected as the inside.  Centered on the top half of the ring are a series of three identical hearts.  Each one features a Swiss blue topaz in the center.  This topaz trio has a combined weight of approximately 1.00 carat.  Surrounding each heart is a halo of round brilliant diamonds.  In total there are forty-eight stones that have a combined weight of .75 carat.

Heart jewelry isn’t something that I typically go for…  but in the past couple of years, I have found more and more heart pieces that appeal to me.  Maybe I’m becoming more sentimental the older I get.  In addition, blue topaz is not one of my favorite gemstones AND I’ve definitely been feeling all the yellow gold vibes lately.  But there’s something about the combination of the white gold, blue topaz and the heart shapes.

Just before Dana shot these pictures, we put the band in the shop for some TLC.  Our jeweler (Debbie) worked her magic and restored the soft satin finish to the white gold surface.  It’s amazing what a little love and a mini-spa day can do for a piece of jewelry.  Looking like new again, this ring was shiny clean and ready to go.  Fortunately – or perhaps unfortunately for me – this band is a finger size 10.  It’s too big for any of my fingers, and cannot be sized.  Moderately priced at $1,800.00 and equally suited for a woman or a man; this designer ring still has me asking the ultimate question.  Is it hot?  Or not?

Signature Series – Volume 8

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Quality Things

The number one brand in the United States, “Tiffany & Co.,” has produced some of the most iconic pieces of all time.  Not only is this revolutionary maker the leading silversmith in America, they’re also famous for superior gold jewelry – like this sweet band.

Circa 1993, this 18-karat yellow gold ring features strong round contours.  If we sliced it in half, the cross-section would be almost circular. There are no sharp edges, just an incredibly comfortable rich golden band with superior style. The simple design makes it an ideal choice for a variety of occasions…

  • A promise ring
  • A wedding band
  • A push present
  • A graduation gift
  • A birthday gift

My favorite detail is nearly as simple as the ring itself.  Perfectly positioned on the top center of the band are three round brilliant diamonds.  The configuration forms a small heart.  This glittering trio offers .05 carat of sparkle.  A solid border of gold frames the diamonds and completes the heart silhouette.

Dubbed the “Friendship Heart Diamond Ring,” this beauty is an easy choice.  With clean lines and a modern aesthetic, it’s easy on the eyes.  That smooth golden shape makes it easy to wear.

And because it’s a near-perfect condition estate piece – it’s also easy on the wallet.  This same ring is selling on other sites for more than $2500.  But at Joden, we’re offering it for just $875.00.  Wear it with the heart facing out for everyone else… or wear it with the heart facing in for yourself.  Measuring a size 5, this ring is available on our site now.  Grab it before someone else does!

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 43

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

With the Christmas holiday all wrapped up, at Joden, we have already turned our attention to 2019.  As I was searching through Joe’s Special Box to find the perfect piece for this week, I kept coming back to this pair of golden beauties.  With Valentine’s Day only weeks away – these sweet little heart rings are sure to please.

The first ring is made from a rich 22 karat gold and features a duo of flower blossoms on a delicately textured background.  Leaves and vines trail down each shoulder adding to the natural appeal of the piece.  Yellow gold has made a strong comeback in the last year, and this ring would be a great statement piece for anyone’s jewelry wardrobe – it’s modestly priced at $640.

The second ring (shown on the right above) is made from pure 24 karat gold.  The warm buttery gold piece features the words “beautiful light” in Japanese.  Etched into each shoulder is an eight-petaled flower, a subtle yet much needed detail…  priced at $750.

The allure of high karat gold was undeniable in 2018 – and 2019 promises to be even stronger.  Our selection of karat gold jewelry is vast and varied.  Get a head start on your Valentine’s Day shopping with a sweetheart of a ring available exclusively at Joden Jewelers.
