Joe’s Special Box – Volume 66

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Words from the “Joe Murawski” school of sales:

When looking for an engagement ring, women will undoubtedly say one (if not all) of these things:

  • “I don’t want a diamond that looks yellow.  If it’s white, I like it.  If it’s yellow, I don’t.”
  • ” I don’t want a diamond with visible marks or inclusions.”
  • “I don’t want a ring that look like everyone else’s.”

And after fifteen years and countless engagement sales, I can honestly say that Joe is right.  Buying a diamond ring really can be simple.  Follow these three guidelines and 99.9% of the time, you’ll find a winner.

And what a winner this one is…  it’s absolute perfection from top to bottom.  The ring is hand-carved from platinum with a painstakingly crafted butterfly on each shoulder.  Twenty-four single cut diamonds are set around the sides and edges of the ring.  It sparkles from every angle.  Hundreds of miniscule platinum beads set off the design – this old world technique is known as milgrain.  The crowning glory of this early 1900’s gem is that center stone – a 1.05 carat Old European Cut diamond.  With high crown angles and a slightly open culet, this stone is dazzling.  Authentic and pristine, this charmer sells for $7500…  AND it fulfills all three of Joe’s rules.  You really can’t go wrong.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 18

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

As I was rifling through Joe’s Special Box looking for today’s selection, I happened upon this little beauty.  The first thought that came to mind was “How is this still here?”  It’s just too good!  I initially shared this ring with you several months ago…  The Power of Three.

It’s all about the details.  Hand crafted from 14 karat white gold – this sweet thing is the epitome of Art Deco elegance. The shoulders and gallery of the ring are meticulously hand pierced with impeccable symmetry.  Delicate leaf garlands combine perfectly with intricate milgrain design.  Each tiny bead of white gold has been hand faceted creating a diamond set appearance.  One Old European Cut diamond winks from between a pair of bright synthetic sapphires.  I would not change a single thing about this ring – not even the price…  it’s a steal at $1100.00!

The “B” Word

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Financial Things

Let’s face it…  the “B” word – it’s the word that makes all girls cringe – BUDGET!  While it may be awkward to talk about, the budget is one of the most crucial pieces of information in the quest to find the ideal engagement ring.  Some girls are economical, frugal even…  others are definitely budget busters!  We have rings for both, and everyone in between.

Now let’s take a closer look at three of my favorites…

Made entirely of platinum, this sweet little beauty dates back to the end of the Art Deco period – 1940.  A .22 carat transitional cut round brilliant diamond is nestled in a classic square-cornered setting.  Additional vintage details include milgrain beaded edges, angular lines, and single-cut diamond trim.  Priced at just $1500, this one won’t break the bank!

For me, this one is all about that killer Old Mine Cut diamond in the center…  weighing in at 1.23 carats, it is simply stunning.  This diamond strikes the perfect balance of the four C’s  – that cushion cut, that beautiful white color, no visible imperfections, and it weighs just over one carat.  What more could a girl want?

This ring is like a darling little bow tied on top of your finger.  Handmade from 18 karat white gold, the loops of the bow curl around the delicate diamond trim.  The center is reminiscent of the first ring, with a .25 carat diamond set in a square-cornered design.  Also budget friendly (priced at $1400.00), it won’t last long.

One, two, even three months salary…  these can seem like very daunting numbers.  And yet, many experts recommend using these guidelines to determine your engagement ring budget.  Consider them exactly that – a guideline, a suggestion.  Whether your budget is $100 or $100,000 – your ring is at Joden Jewelers.  Come visit me…  you’ll see for yourself that the only thing greater than our selection is our customer service.
