Joden Girl
Baubles, Bling and the Latest Things
Amber jewelry is often requested at Joden, but unfortunately, it’s not something that we have a lot of (if any) in our inventory. It’s surprising considering that we often joke about having everything here. Somewhere. So, when this bracelet came in, I grabbed it.
Aesthetically it appeals to me on multiple levels. Comprised of sterling silver, this bracelet measures 7.5 inches in length and half an inch in width. It’s the perfect size – not dainty, but also not chunky. Sturdy construction ensures that the piece is wearable; it has great presence on the arm.
It showcases seven cabochon rounds of cherry colored amber, dubbed for it’s deep hue. Darker, richer tones of the organic gem are a result of the extreme temperature and pressure that the fossilized tree sap was exposed to while buried underground. I love the floral motif incorporated into the structure of the bracelet. Each shimmery stone is accented by a pair of three dimensional daisies and four gently contoured leaves.
Daisies are my favorite posie and are also the birth flower for the month of April. It’s the most cheerful bracelet – it makes me smile just by looking at it. When I flipped it over to admire the closed back construction, I discovered several crisp hallmarks.
Etched in four lines, it reads “Sterling, Denmark, N.E. From, 925 S”. With just the tiniest bit of research, I was able to discover that our bracelet was made from sterling silver in Denmark during the late Midcentury by Neils Erik From. He opened his workshop in 1931 at just 23 years old. For the next forty years, Mr. From became one of the most celebrated artists of Danish origin. Much of his work was inspired by nature and featured semi-precious gems. There are other nearly identical bracelets available on the web for upwards of $975.00… ours is available for just $625.00. It’s perfect for spring. Make it yours today.
