Joe’s Special Box – Volume 77

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

Joe’s Special Box is a hybrid collection of antique treasures and modern marvels.  The common denominator is uniqueness; a rarity.  Digging through the box, you are just as likely to find a two hundred-year-old Georgian ring as you are to find something like this…

This lovely little minx is a tricky one…  commonly dubbed a “jelly opal”, it might fool you.  From one picture to the next, you may miss the extraordinary play of color held inside this dazzling stone.  The high crowned cabochon beauty appears to be nearly translucent at first glance, but with a slight turn of the hand, a fireworks display of red, orange, green, and blue light up the opal.  Weighing over three carats, this gem sits center stage in a sleek platinum ring that glides over the knuckle with ease.  Flanking the opal are a pair of bright white triangular diamonds that have a combined weight of .62 carat.

Most of the opal mined is common, with little to no fire inside.  Less and less jelly opal is being found every day.  These unusual stones are becoming quite collectible and demanding a higher price.  Don’t miss this opportunity – this stunner is available now for just $4500.  And when they ask you where you got it, be sure to mention that you found it in Joe’s Special Box.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 36

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

I always find the best things when I have a chance to snoop around in Joe’s office!  Ssshhh….  don’t tell!  The response to the opal band from a couple weeks ago was awesome (I am patiently waiting for the restoration process to be complete).  So, I knew when I stumbled across these little darlings that I had to share them with you.

Made at the end of the 19th century, these little enchantresses feature 68 cabochon opals in both round and pear shapes.  The play of color in these tiny gems is dazzling.  Flashes of red, green, and blue blaze within each stone creating an effect like fireworks on the 4th of July.  The seat for each opal has been hand-cut, leaving a burst of engraving around each one.  The bottom is hinged, giving the earring movement – this allows light to bounce off the opals further enhancing the sparkle.  These are the details that take a piece from ordinary to extraordinary.  Make them yours today for just $1180.00.
