A Pair of Pears

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and Shapely Things

Just when I think that the halo craze must surely be coming to an end…  a new twist enters the game and we’re off and running again.  There is no question that fancy-shaped center stones have been on FIRE this year.  In fact, the marquise cut was predicted to be THE shape for 2019.  We added our two cents to that prophecy with A Queen Returns back in February.  With fall on the horizon, I am tentatively throwing in the towel on that one.  While we definitely sold a marquise here and there, the real star of the show this year has been the pear.

Much as I hate to admit it, even I have been a smitten kitten where this modern double-halo engagement ring is concerned.  It goes against everything I usually like…  but it’s just so sparkly!  I am powerless to resist it.  A dazzling white pear brilliant cut diamond sits center stage in this 18 karat white gold contemporary beauty.  Weighing .48 carat, this diamond packs a punch.  It is surrounded by not one but two diamond halos created from fifty-one round diamonds that wrap around the center then cascade down the shoulders.  The side stones add an additional .45 carat to this ring, bringing the total diamond weight to .93 carat.  Priced at just $2,150, this is A LOT of look for the money.

Shortly after I discovered the shiny new ring shown above, I stumbled across this tarnished old gem.  Featuring a rose-cut pear-shaped diamond, this 9 karat yellow gold stunner was handcrafted nearly 200 years ago.  It’s Georgian, made in the 1830’s.  Twelve additional rose cut diamonds add another layer of subtle shine to this understated piece.  The total diamond weight comes in at just over a half carat, .55 to be exact.  Each nook and cranny of the softly scalloped edge is rich with a dark patina, achieved solely with age.  It shimmers with quiet beauty for just $925.

And so I ask you the same question I have been asking myself…  which one will it be?  Are you drawn glossy shine of the new ring or do you covet the gleaming glow of the antique bauble?  Cast your vote on our Instagram post!

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 49

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

One of the questions that we get asked most often is “Where do you get your jewelry?”  There isn’t a simple answer, the truth is that sometimes the treasures find us and sometimes we find them.  Last month, Joe went in search of some new baubles and bling at the Original Miami Beach Antique Show.  We’ve been attending this show for more than thirty years.  It’s an annual opportunity to add unique gems to our already spectacular collection.  Upon his return, we are always excited to see all the things that Joe has brought with him.  From a 14.00 carat diamond to this tiny ring, each one was “Oh So Joden”.  This little ring was one of my favorite finds…  and clearly one of Joe’s as well, considering it’s now in his Special Box.  A scalloped flower was created utilizing seven rose cut diamonds.  These diamonds are surrounded by a halo of fancy cut rubies, providing a much needed pop of color!  It fits perfectly on any finger from the index to the pinky and is moderately priced at $1600.  Visit us at Joden and see what other riches came home to Pennsylvania.

Ring Around the Rosey

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and a Rose Cut Ring

I stumbled across this ring last week – and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since!  First, I showed it to my work friends, only to discover that they love it as much as I do.  Then, I added to the diamond case, thinking that some lucky girl should have it for her engagement ring.  Finally, yesterday I spirited it away to take some photos so I could share it with you.  It’s really occupying too much of my time BUT just look at it!

This 14 karat rose gold ring is absolutely charming.  First – let’s talk about that rose cut diamond center…  weighing in at .52 carats, it is dazzling.  Right now, you may be wondering “What is a rose cut?”  This unique cutting technique has been around for more than 500 years.  It features a flat bottom with a domed top (bearing a resemblance to the flower for which it was named).  The top portion showcases triangular shaped facets giving it a soft glow.  Surrounding this rose cut is a round diamond halo – adding a second dimension of sparkle.  This ring has a little secret – and it’s my favorite detail –

Don’t you just love this tiny bridge of diamonds on each side?  I sure do!  The additional 26 diamonds add another .14 carats of bling, bringing the total diamond weight to .66 carats…  but it looks like so much more!  This ring is available in our showroom now (as soon as I put it back) for just $1900.  It’s ALOT of look for that price.  You have to see it to believe it!
