Everlasting Beauty

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling and Endless Things

It’s Valentine’s Day.  While it is one of my favorite holidays, that seems to be quite an unpopular opinion.  This year, I have heard countless people grumbling about how much fresh flowers cost versus how long they last.  Depending on where you live, on Valentine’s Day, a dozen roses will likely cost you a couple hundred bucks.  And just a few short days later, they’re drooping over the side of the vase, dripping petals on the counter.  Another popular thing to do for Valentine’s Day is going out for dinner; restaurants are also pricey and leave you with nothing to show for it except maybe an extra pound or two.  Don’t even get me started on candies and chocolates…

Jewelry is a gift that lasts.  If you buy a piece of quality jewelry, it can last your lifetime and beyond; it’s an heirloom.  This charming brooch caught my eye from the very first time I saw it.  Dainty and sweet, it offers a kaleidoscope of spring bounty, both in color and variety.  Eight individual flowers have been carved from a wide range of genuine gemstones.  Starting at the top, we have rock crystal, amethyst, dyed blue chalcedony, aventurine quartz, dyed green chalcedony and pink tourmaline.  Each one has been artfully fully sculpted, highlighting the curves, contours and scalloped edges of each petal.

Prong set in the center of each flower is a prong-set gemstone in an assortment of color.  Perhaps my favorite detail is the tiny ladybug in the center.  The enameled wings, this little friend is the color of sunshine.  Eight precise black spots can be seen on the bold yellow wings.  Ladybug’s spots are not for decoration, they’re actually part of their defense mechanism.  They warn predators that ladybugs taste bad and not to eat them!  Such a clever little bug.

The framework of the brooch is made from 18-karat white gold.  Each flower stem connects to fluted cup on the back of each blossom.  Exuding whimsical cheer, these brightly colored buds spin!  Just a little nudge with your finger moves the flowers back and forth.  This wildflower bouquet has been tied together with an 18-karat white gold bow.  Four tiny diamonds add a hint of sparkle to the bow.  The catch is hinged and offers not one, but two pin stems allowing for stability.

Brooches are back in a big way for 2025, and this one is the perfect way to start your collection.  Priced at $3,625.00 – these flowers will never wilt.  Their bright colors will never fade.  It will last forever, allowing you to hand it down from generation to generation.  Not yet on our website, it’s available in the estate department of our showroom.

Joe’s Special Box – Volume 45

Joden Girl

Baubles, Bling, and A Collector’s Things

250 million roses will be sold this year for Valentine’s Day.  For hundreds of years, flowers have symbolized love and romance.  Sadly, those fragrant blossoms will begin to fade the moment they’re snipped…  lasting about a week or less after you bring them home.

Perhaps I can entice you with an alternative from Joe’s Special Box.  These stunning Art Nouveau earrings (handcrafted over 100 years ago), are in excellent condition with very little change since the day they were made.  Each vine-like drop begins and ends with a fully enameled pink bud connected with a series of faint green leaves.  The detail on every petal is incredible.  These beauties are available for just $1650.

If you purchased just one dozen roses each year for your significant other, that would total something like $3,000…  provided the loves lasts for half a century or more.  That certainly makes these earrings seem like quite a bargain, especially for roses that are sure to last a lifetime.

For the Queen of Your Heart

Joden Girl

 Baubles, Bling, and Valentine Things

It seems like we have no more than packed up our Christmas decorations before Valentine’s Day is upon us.  The Christmas clearance items are on the shelves right beside the boxes of children’s Valentine cards.  For me, it’s exciting!  Valentine’s Day has always been my favorite holiday – I love the sentimentality of it.  And from everything that I’ve been reading, most of you feel the same way.  Ladies aren’t expecting expensive gifts, they are hoping for a meaningful gift.

Last year, the average amount spent on Valentine’s Day rang in at just under $150.00…  unfortunately, in today’s world, $150 doesn’t buy all that much.  Here’s where Joden comes in.  One of the things that a lot of people don’t know about us is that we truly have something for everyone.  We have a lot of really great pieces that cost less than $100.

This photo is just one small example of what’s available at Joden.  The four rings pictured here range from $50-$150.00.  We also have countless pendants, earrings, and bracelets available in the same range.  So, if you’re looking for a Valentine’s Gift that will outlast the candy and flowers but won’t break the bank – come to Joden.

For those of you who are looking to spend a little more, we have that too.  We recently bought a couple items that are absolutely perfect for Valentine’s Day or any day.  What better way to tell her she’s the Queen of your heart than with this beautiful crown ring from Garrard?

This unique eternity ring is constructed from 18 karat white gold.  The intricate design is interspersed with tiny round melee diamonds and each point is crowned with a brilliant blue sapphire.  Priced at just under $3000, it’s fit for royalty.

I fell in love with these charming crown earrings the moment I saw them.  Each pair is made in 14 karat white gold accented with diamonds.  The pair on the left have Tsavorite (green) Garnet trim and the pair on the right  have Sapphire trim.  These beauties are priced at $900 a pair.  They give a fresh spin to ordinary diamond earrings.

The possibilities are endless.  With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, Joden is the place for you.
